Nikon D50 for Astrophotography?
I am interested in getting into Astro-photography as a hobby I have a Nikon D50 digital SLR camera and a Meade 8800 Telescope with a camera mount and T adapter since my camera has several different setting which is the best to use for astro-photgraphy 100% manual or combination of Auto and manual settings? Any advice will be appreciated.
Yes, its fine. I notice another answerer has stated that it filters out wavelengths that you are interested it: ignore it. That refers to IR which you generally don't want in your images anyway. Although you are using a Newtonian and so chromatic aberration is less of an issue it will still bite you if you use eyepiece projection to gain magnification or a focal reducer to lose it. Good quality optical components are designed to reduce chromatic aberration in visible wavelengths, and completely ignore IR. Nikon cameras have quite a following in the astrophotography community.
As for settings, yes, all manual. Use a slow ISO setting and the remote control if you have one (this reduces vibration when you open and close the shutter). For longer exposures you want a bulb mode but your camera has one so no problems there.
Output your images in RAW format. JPEG compression is good for photos of everyday objects but bad for astrophotography where many details are inherently low contrast, which is not something JPEG was designed to deal with.
Astrophotography is ultimately a specialist and complex area, though. You really need to read a few guides on the subject since a detailed treatment of the subject is not appropriate here.

‘Beowulf' Movie Review - A Movie With Anthony Hopkins
‘Beowulf' (2007) is set in Denmark in the year 507 A.D. This epic old English verse and ancient story of heroism and betrayal is brought entertainingly to life in this screen adaptation which is stunningly animated using computer generated graphics, sword and sandals fantasy adventure film. A fascinating and utterly pleasurable movie, with scenic Icelandic vistas shot by Jan Kiesser and a changeless theme of religious conflict (Christianity versus Nordic paganism) and intolerance. Originally made in 3D, to best showcase the special effects, the movie is a must have DVD for your home cinema, particularly the director's cut edition, with special features on the subject of the technical making of the movie, design and filming, which makes interesting viewing.
Anthony Hopkins (his computer generated image with his rich voice) plays elderly King Hrothgar, set in a time of demons and dragons, warriors and temptresses in this Viking land. King Hrothgar, to the dissatisfaction of his Queen, Wealthow (Robin Wright Penn) celebrates his capture of other lands and accumulated riches with drunken cavorting festivities in his new mead hall, where the gathered warriors and wenches make merry with mead, singing and dancing.
However, in a dim cavern not far away, lurks the gigantic, half-demon, half-human grotesque Grendel (Crispin Glover) who is thrown into a rage at hearing all these sounds of revelry and launches a horrific violent assault on the mead hall and its' revelers, killing and wounding many of the brave warriors with his own body seemingly resistant to most weapons although sparing the Kings' life, because of previous history between the two, which is soon after revealed. After this blood-bath the beast returns to his cavern where his mother, a water demon (Angelina Jolie) comforts him.
The next day King Hrothgar announces that he's ready to pay a handsome sum to liberate his kingdom of Grendel. A hero steps forward proclaiming himself protector of the realm - Beowulf (Ray Winstone). Beowulf and his fellow Geats vow to kill the monster in exchange for riches and a kingdom.
Though at first Grendel seems indestructible, Beowulf finally manages to defeat him in a desperate and bloody battle to the death. Inconsolable by her son's violent demise at the hands of Beowulf, Grendel's mother, a marvelously sexy naked water siren, sets out in pursuit of revenge. Beowulf is seduced by the pledge of riches & power from Grendel's mother, a scene not to be missed by fans of Angelina Jolie. So long as the gold dragon horn remains with her, Beowulf would be the most prevailing & strongest king, thus his compelling ambition renders Beowulf helpless, powerless to kill her and instead finding himself attracted and captivated by her sexual power.
King Hrothgar kills himself perhaps because he feels the guilt of losing his bastard monster son, Grendel and the demon's mother besides. Beowulf grows old and all of a sudden the gold dragon horn mysteriously finds its way to him and he sees this as a sign that his reign as the invincible King is finished. The condemnation, "Sins of the Father" haunts Beowulf and it is likely his bastard demon son that is creating havoc in his kingdom, ready to take over Beowulf's throne & his Kingdom.
Later, Beowulf meets the biggest challenge of his life when he tries to slay a powerful dragon. The most remarkable CGI (Computer generated imagery) detail in the ‘Beowulf' movie, in my opinion, is the Dragon. In the astonishing battle against the Dragon, Beowulf is almost impaled on a stake. In this fierce battle against the dragon, who is in fact his son, Beowulf even has to sever his own arm in order to kill it. It is clear that his beast son, the Dragon demon does not intend to kill him because he is intent on trying to kill the Queen, Beowulf's youthful lover. It is as though his son expresses his frustrations that his father, Beowulf resents his demon mother and himself.
The film is a spell-binder, a fully fledged cinematic assault on the senses, as if an old oil painting of Norse Gods had come to life and begun hurling spears, arrows complete with geysers of blood spurting in all directions and exceptional sound effects. A celebration of daring , carnivorous manhood coupled with up-to-date technological wizardry and punctuated with clever humour and a surprisingly stylish sting in its' tale.
