What are the best binoculars to buy?
I have been looking to pick up some new binoculars and the Nikon Monarch ATB seem like a good fit for me. I found them at http://monarchatb.com but if you know another good spot that has reviews on them let me know. Cheers!

You won't go wrong with the Monarch ATB binoculars with 42mm objective lenses - as Kid Stuff points out, they have the dielectric prism coatings which are a significant improvement over the silver or aluminum prism coatings. (Last I checked, Nikon was only putting the dielectric coatings in the Monarch ATBs with 42mm objectives, though, so you may want to double check before ordering.)
In practical terms, you're probably already aware that the brighter images provided by the dielectric coatings translate into better colors, greater resolution of details, and significantly better contrast than that which are possible with lesser prism coatings. Seeing better in low light conditions and being able to visually punch through shadows will make a big difference - but I'll bet you've done a bit of research before settling on the Monarch ATB.
You can read a bunch of reviews (I like this one because it points out both positives and potential negatives: http://www.opticsreviewer.com/nikon-monarch-binoculars.html ), but I believe you'll come down to the idea that Nikon has put good optics in the Monarch ATB. The twist-up eyecups may need a little more tender care and the rain-guard may not stay put all the time, but you can work around those if you have good optics.
You didn't mention where or what you're going to be hunting - the 10X42 is great where you have a longer view and the 8X42 can be pretty nice in the woods with a wider field of view - assuming you'll not be looking over as great a distance in the woods.
Jake has a good point about Leupold binoculars generally being good - the Cascades and Mojave are a couple of good models.
The Vortex Talon HD has the Extra-low Dispersion (ED) / High Density (HD) lenses that provide greater resolution if that's an interest. They have a solid review on them at the http://www.opticsreviewer.com site, too.

Nikon Monarch ATB Binoculars are one of the best sets of binoculars you will find for the money. What does the ATB stand for? It stands for All Terrain Binoculars, and that description fits them well. They can take any punishment that you might find while hunting.
After a set of bargain binoculars failed on an elk hunt in New Mexico, I finally decided to splurge on a set of really good binoculars. Being a teacher, I just couldn't afford a set of the European binoculars that you read about in many of the outdoor magazines. After much deliberation, I chose the Nikon binoculars.
Nikon Monarch ATB Binoculars are a truly great set of binoculars. The only thing that I'm not fond of is the ocular lens caps. They don't stay on well, but that doesn't really become a problem for me. I don't usually use the lens caps while hunting. I absolutely love everything else about these binoculars.
I always used bargain-basement type optics growing up. I just didn't know what I was missing. The clarity is so much better than discount optics. It really makes a difference. Cheap binoculars actually gave me a headache. These Nikon's don't do that. I can use them for hours on end without eye strain. I just thought that was normal.
There are quite a few different options in the Nikon line. They offer 8x36, 8x42, 10x36, 10x42, 10x56, 12x42, and 12x56 binoculars. They also offer a camouflage finish. The first number is the magnification of the optics. The second number is the size of the objective, or front lens. For hunting, most people use 8x or 10x binoculars. I chose 10x because I hunt in a lot of large open areas, although I haven't had any problems in heavily wooded areas yet. I believe I made a good choice.
One problem with higher power binoculars is holding them still while glassing. The higher the magnification, the harder it is to hold them still. I found a really cool trick online that helps a lot. While wearing a hat, simply grasp the bill of your hat with the binoculars. It's amazing how much that steadies the image.
Nikon also stands behind their products. Their binoculars have a no-fault, lifetime warranty. Whatever happens, they will make it right. I really like a company that backs up their products with great warranties.
Nikon Monarch ATB Binoculars are one of the best optics values on the market today. If you're looking for a set of good optics, these would be a great choice.
